Assistant Auditor.

In respect of what number of auction sales has

the Auctioneering & Brokering Co. Ltd. made default in

payment?

As far as I have been able to ascertain the

number appears to be 128 or 129.

What is the total amount involved?

$29,874.80. In addition to which a further

amount of $22.65 under query.

Can you put up for the information of the

Committee a list of such sales?

I can give you a list of distraints for which

orders for sale have been made. The dates of sale

and the net proceeds can only be obtained from the

Balliff's memorandum book or the Auctioneering Company's

record of sales book which are both before the Committee.

I will furnish a list. (List produced on 24.11.26 and

attached to report).

Mr. Hill informed the Committee that the sale

in respect of goods ex S.S. "Ling Nam" included only perishable stores. Have you examined the A. & B. Cols.

account sale in respect of this sale? Does the list

show that articles other than perishable stores were

sold? If so, what?

Yes. Sale 326 held 28th September, 1925.

Item 1 10 show sales of crockery.

Items 110 112 show sales of glass.

Some of the perishable stores were sold to the Empress

Stores.

Mr. Hill has stated that very few orders for the sale of jewellery (deceased's estates) were given, that jewellery was never sold without the order of the

Official Administrator and that he does not remember any sales of jewellery by the A. & B. Co. Ltd. Also
